Yes it’s simple – you CAN make 2018 great
1. Write down your goals and what you want to achieve in 2018.
Have you done it yet? It’s an annual ritual for me. Of course it’s important to think about what you want to achieve but even more important that you write them down. The actual act of writing them down has an impact on your subconscious. You have a record in your mind and also on paper. It is no longer just a fleeting, passing thought. Put these up somewhere as a reminder during the year and you can refer back to at the beginning of 2019. Health, finance, relationship, travel, learning, career, things you want to change in yourself. Think broadly about different areas of your life.
2. Learn something new.
What would you find interesting to learn about? A language, a skill, development of some expertise, a new hobby. Different ways you can learn are through experience, self directed learning or formal learning and education. Is there something that will enhance your career? Do you want to learn something just to improve yourself. It might be a weekend course or a short term course or a full year program. Check out what is offering a community colleges like we have in Sydney WEA. Search for community colleges in your area for something nearby and see what is offering. If you can’t find a course near you there is always correspondence courses. Make sure you are more informed an educated by the end of 2018.
3. Give something back, your time, money, skills and energy.
The physical, emotional and psychological benefits of altruism have been well researched and documented. This article gives you just a small idea. Volunteering is just one way of giving back. Charities and not for profits are always in need of additional help. Search “how do I volunteer” and you’ll find lots of local opportunities. If you are looking for a wonderful not for profit organisation that could do with some additional regular donors. Feel free to email me for more information on that. Even donating the equivalent of a cup of coffee or a meal a week might not be noticed coming out of your account but over the year will add up..
4. Do something for your personal development/self-improvement.
That might be a course, or a weekend retreat. Read self-help books that stretch you. You haven’t reached your full potential yet. Have you? There is self-awareness and empowerment awaiting your discovery. Learn to overcome self-limiting thoughts and beliefs. Be a more fulfilled and empowered individual by the end of 2018. 5. Do the thing you’ve been putting off for ages…. even years.
What is that? You’ve thought about it and thought about it but done nothing. Make 2018 the year YOU make it happen. It is no longer hanging around in the back of your mind as an “I should do” …..you can tick it off as a DONE. Imagine your sense of achievement, if not relief, at the end of the year.
